Tutoring Support for Encinitas Students and Families

At Pivot Tutors, we offer private, one-on-one tutoring for Encinitas students, built around each student's classes, goals and schedule. From Leucadia and Cardiff to Olivenhain, Encinitas students continue into the San Dieguito Union High School District, where AP classes and college testing become a bigger part of the picture. Whether your student attends San Dieguito Academy, La Costa Canyon High or another San Dieguito Union school, we build a plan around what they need right now — a stronger grade in a tough class, a better SAT or ACT score, or a top score on an AP exam — and match them with a tutor who fits how they learn.

Online and In-Person Options for Encinitas Families

Encinitas is one of the farther communities from our Sorrento Valley office, so flexibility matters. Online sessions give your student the same expert support and personalized attention as in-person sessions, without the drive along I-5.

Students at San Dieguito Academy, La Costa Canyon and other schools can work with a consistent tutor on coursework, AP exams and SAT/ACT prep — and come to the office for the Sunday diagnostic test when they're ready to start test prep.

Online or In Person at Our Sorrento Valley Office

Encinitas families can choose the format that fits their week:

  • Online tutoring from home, with the same tutor and the same personalized attention
  • In-person sessions at our Sorrento Valley office, 11300 Sorrento Valley Rd STE 101, San Diego, CA 92121

We're open every day from 9AM to 9PM, including Saturdays and Sundays. Please note that Pivot Tutors does not offer at-home tutoring.

SAT and ACT Prep for Encinitas High School Students

Every test prep plan starts with a real baseline. Our in-person diagnostic test is a fully timed SAT/ACT exam held every Sunday at 10AM at our Sorrento Valley office. It shows which test plays to your student's strengths, where they're losing points, and how pacing and stamina affect their score.

From there, we build a custom plan that combines one-on-one tutoring, homework and practice tests using Pivot's own lesson plans. Prefer the ACT? See our ACT prep program.

AP and Academic Tutoring

For AP courses, we identify strengths and gaps early, then build a study plan with focused sessions and timed practice leading up to exam day.

For everyday coursework, our academic tutoring helps students get unstuck on homework, prepare for tests, fill gaps in a class, or get ahead with more challenging material.

Getting to Our Sorrento Valley Office from Encinitas

Our office is at 11300 Sorrento Valley Rd STE 101, San Diego, CA 92121, just off I-5 and I-805. It's where we hold in-person tutoring sessions and our Sunday diagnostic tests.

Because Encinitas is farther north along I-5, online sessions can be the easiest way to fit tutoring into a busy week — and in-person sessions at our office are always an option. If the drive doesn't fit your week, online sessions give your student the same tutor and the same plan with no travel at all. We're open every day from 9AM to 9PM, including Saturdays and Sundays. The same options are available to families in nearby Solana Beach and Rancho Santa Fe.

Do your tutors come to our home in Encinitas?

No — we don't offer at-home tutoring. All tutoring takes place online or at our Sorrento Valley office, and your student gets the same tutor and the same personalized attention either way.

Can you help students at San Dieguito Academy, La Costa Canyon and other Encinitas-area schools?

Yes. We tutor all school subjects, including math, science, English, humanities and languages, and our tutors are experienced with the curricula students are working through. Share your student's syllabus, assignments or upcoming test topics, and we'll build sessions around them.

Is online tutoring as effective as in-person tutoring?

Both formats give your student the same expert support and personalized attention, with the same tutor. The right choice depends on how your student learns best and what fits your week.

Do we need to come to Sorrento Valley for the diagnostic test?

Yes. The diagnostic test is a fully timed, in-person exam designed to simulate real test-day conditions, so it's held at our Sorrento Valley office every Sunday at 10AM. It's free.

Should my student take the SAT or the ACT?

Our diagnostic test is designed to answer exactly that. It shows which test plays to your student's strengths, so you don't spend time preparing for the wrong exam.

Where and when is the diagnostic test held?

In person at our Sorrento Valley office every Sunday at 10AM. The diagnostic test is free.

How much does tutoring cost?

Academic tutoring is $175 per hour, or $600 per month on our monthly plan (4 hours included). SAT/ACT tutoring is $235 per hour, with 2-month and 3-month packages available. Contact us and we'll recommend the option that fits your student's goals.

What grade levels do you tutor?

We most often work with middle school, high school and college students, and we can support students at other stages of their academic journey too.

Can sessions fit around school, sports and activities?

Yes. We're open every day from 9AM to 9PM, including Saturdays and Sundays, and online sessions remove travel time entirely.
